University of Strathclyde
Over the past 5 years, SSC has completed over 20 market research reports for the University of Strathclyde. These have ranged from Software Apps for wellness through to drug delivery systems for new formulations for chemotheraphy. SSC provide training and coaching for final year students, and work with the KRES team to help bring out the best of the scientific innovators and the globally relevant technologies that Strathclyde has developed.
This aspirational company formed by alumni of the University of Strathclyde have worked with SSC to assess the market potential of their idea, to create a solid business plan, to apply for funding through SMART feasibility and to grow rapidly as a successful organisation. SSC has assisted CuanTec through coaching and mentoring, developing staff from bench scientists through to successful business people.
This has created skills in the company to not only build a successful product but also attract major investors such as Sky Ocean Ventures and win a major development partnership with Waitrose. SSC has introduced them to additional experts along the way, including their Chairman, CEO and several members of their board and have been providing interim and permanent key management appointments.
With SSC’s help, the organisation has grown from 3 people in a single lab near Glasgow to a staff of 14 and an additional lab facility at the European Centre for Marine Biotechnology in Oban. In terms of the business itself, they have grown a small-scale research operation to large-lab manufacturing who look forward to a full production facility in the near future.
National Oceanography Centre (NOC)
NOC, part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) family of research centres has contracted SSC to work on market research for several of their commercialisation projects. Assessing the market potential and suitable business models for a variety of technologies applicable to a wide range of industries from Insurance to Oil & Gas.
Oxford University Innovation
Oxford University Innovation is a global technology transfer and innovation management consultancy business, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of Oxford.They help technology providers and seekers to source, develop and commercialise innovations. SSC is very happy and proud to assist this prestigious organisation with their projects.
University of Turku
Over the past 3 years, SSC has helped successfully in several commercialisation projects. These have included a wide range of industrial applications from educational games to diagnostics applications and new material solutions. SSC has provided mentoring, market research and route to market advice, and also training and coaching on pitching for the personnel of the university.
